End on Time

hour glassIt is equally important to end on time. When the members read the sign-up sheet which said the meeting would end at 8:30 p.m., they will expect it to end at 8:30! People have counted the cost of being part of the group and it usually doesn’t include an unspoken extended meeting time. Additionally, members may have babysitters, need to get children to bed, have work to do, or other commitments that still need to be handled that evening. If members need to leave at 8:30 p.m., and you are not done, sometimes they will just get up and leave, which is often during the share and prayer time, which diminishes the importance of that time. This is not ideal since it is best to have everyone there to finish that time of the meeting to support each other and end the evening together, as well. So as someone once told me: If the runway is down there, you’ve got to land the plane. The runway is 8:30 (or whenever your finish time is) – so land the plane at that time!
